Bournemouth are close to securing the services of Milos Kerkez.

According to Fabrizio Romano, writing on his Twitter page, Bournemouth are confident of getting a deal over the line for Milos Kerkez very soon. Romano previously revealed that Lazio had been working on a deal for Kerkez, but the Cherries have stepped in at the eleventh hour to hijack the deal.

Andoni Iraola is looking to put his stamp on the Bournemouth squad he inherited from Gary O’Neil this summer. The new manager will be seeking a way to take the Cherries to the next level after the club successfully avoided relegation last season. Bringing in quality young players, with potential to improve, will be part of that squad building exercise, which is where Kerkez comes in.

Bournemouth are already working on a deal to bring Matias Vina back to the Vitality Stadium. If that move goes through, Kerkez will likely have been earmarked as an understudy to the Uruguayan.

Who is Milos Kerkez?

Kerkez currently plies his trade for Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar, where he has established himself as a regular starter, having joined the club after a brief spell at AC Milan. Whilst things didn’t work out for Kerkez at the San Siro, the 19-year-old recently revealed in an interview with Scouted Football that Italian icon Paolo Maldini personally called him to tempt him to the Serie A giants. Kerkez said, “Maldini called me personally…and that was a big pull for me. You know when Maldini is calling you, you are not thinking too much.”

The teenager got his career back on track in the Netherlands, and has since earned 8 senior caps for Hungary. The defender is a huge talent with massive potential and plenty of attacking flair. He would be a very exciting addition to Iraola’s squad.
