Bournemouth – and their manager Eddie Howe – received plenty of praise on Twitter from jubilant Cherries fans after their 6-1 thumping of Hull City.
A Junior Stanislas-inspired Bournemouth gave new permanent Hull City manager Mike Phelan an afternoon to forget at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
Former West Ham United starlet Stanislas bagged a brace in Bournemouth’s 6-1 demolition of the Tigers; in the process establishing Bournemouth’s biggest ever Premier League win.
With only five minutes on the clock, Stanislas’ free-kick was tapped in by unmarked defender Charlie Daniels, having initially rebounded off the post, to give Bournemouth a lead – from which they did not look back despite the setback of Hull’s equaliser through Ryan Mason.
The remainder of the first half saw exciting winger Jordan Ibe causing Hull no end of problems in tandem with the now fully-fit Callum Wilson. Indeed, the first half also saw another Bournemouth defender get on the scoresheet, in the guise of centre-back Steve Cook, before man-of-the-match Stanislas converted a penalty on the brink of half-time.
Bournemouth’s number 19 scored his second of the game mid-way through the second half to make it 4-1, before a Wilson header and a late goal from substitute Dan Gosling made the score 6-1.
After the game, social media was awash with praise for Bournemouth’s performance and the capabilities of young English manager Eddie Howe.
