The £26.5 million price tag was seen by many as over priced, but that is forgetting one key element, Mings is a very good centre-back.
He has been called up by England and made his debut for the Three Lions against Bulgaria.
The game was overshadowed by racist abuse suffered by England’s players.
One of the effects of this was that Mings’ professional performance seemed even more accomplished.
He did not look out of place alongside Harry Maguire and England dominated their opponents away from home, winning 6-0.
