Jermain Defoe is leaving Bournemouth for Rangers.

Bournemouth have reportedly sanctioned a deal for Jermain Defoe to sign with Rangers.
Sky Sports report Defoe has agreed an 18 month loan move to Ibrox to play under Rangers boss and former England teammate Steven Gerrard.
The move is a major coup for Rangers, who will fancy their chances of winning this year’s Scottish Premiership title.
Rangers are currently level with Celtic, who have a game in hand.
For Bournemouth, Defoe’s exit was inevitable, given his lack of playing time under Eddie Howe this season.

What came as a surprise is the length of the loan, as it means Defoe will remain on Bournemouth’s books another 18 months.
It is currently unclear how much wages Bournemouth and Rangers will split.

Rangers’ finances dictate they will be unable to pay Defoe’s wages, which Spotrac claim break down at near to £100,000 per week.
Bournemouth’s inability to shift him permanently is a sign they overpaid badly to sign the striker, who they no longer need.
Rangers have got a bargain, with mixed feelings coming from Bournemouth fans…
