Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on Nathan Ake.

Nathan Ake of the Netherlands arrives at the stadium prior to the UEFA Nations League Final between Portugal and the Netherlands at Estadio do Dragao on June 09, 2019 in Porto, Portugal.

Tottenham Hotspur face a big summer in the transfer market, and whilst centre back may not be a key position in the mind of fans, plans may be made for the future.

Ake, 24, has impressed for Bournemouth since arriving from Chelsea, and the Dutchman has now become one of the Premier League’s top ball-playing centre backs.

He’s not the tallest centre back at 5ft 11in, but his ability to play out from the back and play left back if needed makes him a sensible target as Vertonghen’s long-term successor.

Bournemouth fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the rumour, with some feeling that it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Ake move on, especially with Spurs having Champions League football.

Others think £40million is nowhere near enough, claiming £50million or even £60million would be more suitable for the centre back – prices Spurs are unlikely to pay…
