Bournemouth lost 2-1 to AC Milan on Saturday in a testimonial match in honour of club legend Warren Cummings.
Cummings, who finished his career with Havant & Waterlooville last season, made 250 league appearances for Bournemouth between 2003 and 2012.
The match was eagerly anticipated by Cherries fans as it marked Jack Wilshere’s debut for the club after his high-profile loan move from Arsenal on transfer deadline day.
In light of the press Wilshere has been receiving about the move and his problems with injury, he will have wanted nothing more than to deliver on his debut – and he did.
Wilshere got 45 minutes of football under his belt before he was taken off for Jake McCarthy, but showed enough during his cameo that Bournemouth may have pulled off the smartest piece of business of deadline day, with the 24-year-old showing his full array of tricks and flicks.

It was not just the performance of Wilshere that had the Cherries faithful purring, however.
20-year-old French striker Lys Mousset scored Bournemouth’s goal in the 65th minute to equalise immediately after Milan had taken the lead, although the Italian side scored a winner just two minutes later.
Mousset arrived from Le Havre during the summer for a fee in the region of £5 million and appears to be an absolute bargain for Eddie Howe, serving as a constant threat all afternoon.
Cherries fans took to Twitter after the game to wax lyrical about the youngster’s performance.
It has been a tough start to the season for Eddie Howe’s men as they lie in 19th place. They restart their Premier League campaign next Saturday when they host West Brom at Dean Court.
With Mousset and Wilshere set to be involved, things may be on the up for AFC Bournemouth.
