Liverpool winger Harry Wilson thrived on-loan at Championship side Derby County last season and he has started life in a positive fashion at Bournemouth this term.

Simon Francis has lauded the start Liverpool winger Harry Wilson has made to his Bournemouth career as he stated that the loanee has been a ‘breath of fresh air’ for the club.

Cherries defender Francis is currently on the sidelines with injury, but he would have seen Wilson in action, both on the field of play and in training since he joined the club in the summer.

Wilson’s standout moment for Eddie Howe’s side came against Premier League champions Manchester City last month when he netted a brilliant free-kick – Francis described that as ‘one of the best’ he has seen live.

Speaking to Sky Sports Premier League (15/09/2019), Francis had nothing but positive words to say about Wilson, as he praised him for ‘studying his game’ by analysing the game of Barcelona great Lionel Messi.

“He’s been excellent,” Francis told Sky Sports PL. “He’s been a breath of fresh air. He has come in from a huge club like Liverpool, but he’s very humble, very quiet and he goes about his business.

“Obviously, he has some goods friends [in the Bournemouth team] from the Wales step-up in Brooksy [David Brooks] and [Chris] Mepham. So, he has settled in really well. And I think that has shown on the pitch because he’s looked confident and he’s scored some great goals.

On Wilson analysing Messi: “That’s something I like to hear. He’s studying his game. He’s getting better at it all the time and improving and reaping the rewards of it. You saw the free-kick against Manchester City. That’s certainly one of the best I have seen live in a long time.”

Wilson has scored two goals in his opening four games for the Cherries – the other came during his team’s 2-1 win at Aston Villa last month.

Last season, Wilson thrived in a Derby County shirt as he helped then-Rams manager Frank Lampard reach the Championship play-off final, but they ended up losing out to Aston Villa at Wembley.

He will be hoping these performances, and what he could potentially show in these coming months, will result in him being part of Jurgen Klopp’s squad next season.
