The Cherries are without a win in 2017 and are just five points clear of the drop zone.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe will be asking serious questions of his side following their 2-1 defeat away at West Bromwich Albion, which has plunged them headfirst into a Premier League relegation fight.

The Cherries led through a Josh King penalty, but were pegged back when Craig Dawson and Gareth McAuley struck for the Baggies – with McAuley’s goal coming courtesy of a goalkeeping howler from Artur Boruc.

The result was Bournemouth’s fourth successive loss, and the club are without a win in 2017. With their next fixture coming against 2017 League Cup winners Manchester United, it’s unlikely that run will be changing anytime soon.

What Howe does from here will be very interesting – does he stick to his guns in the hope that his players come through in what is proving to be an incredibly long blip, or does he alter his tactics?

If the case gets too severe – which, if Bournemouth lose to United and other results go against them, is a real possibility – the latter option may have to be applied.

While Howe is known as a forward thinking manager who encourages a brilliant style of play, we could see whether Bournemouth have a plan B after all.
