Speaking on The Overlap, Declan Rice has been discussing the three players who missed penalties for England in the Euro 2020 final, and he’s reserved special praise for Bukayo Saka.
Saka, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho had the misfortune of being at fault for England’s penalty shootout loss in the summer, and while that type of disappointment can ruin a player’s career, Saka has bounced back brilliantly.
The Arsenal youngster has been absolutely incredible this term for Arsenal, and Rice has been very impressed by what he’s seen.
What’s Rice said?
The midfielder had nothing but good things to say about Saka.
“I feel like if you look at Saka this season, he’s been unbelievable, he’s really bounced back. Sancho has had to move to Manchester United and it’s been tough and he’s still adapting. Rashy with everything he’s done in terms of his charity work and stuff like that. They’re three top lads and it was really disappointing,” Rice said.

Bounced back
Rice is absolutely right about Saka, he’s bounced back brilliantly from this summer’s disappointment.
Unfortunately, some players are never the same after incidents like that, but it seems as though the 20-year-old has the right mentality to put any setbacks behind him.
He’s once again proven to be one of Arsenal’s most important players, and we can only hope that he can help England go one step further in Qatar later this year.
