Jordan Botaka says he has settled in well at Elland Road, with his Leeds United team-mates talking and joking with him from the moment he moved to the Yorkshire side, according to the club’s official website.
The pacy winger feels a young Leeds squad benefits him as he can understand them and vice versa.
And Botaka says his team-mates have made a good impression on him after sealing a Deadline Day move to the Whites. The youngster will play out wide for Uwe Rosler’s men this season.
The 22-year-old told the Leeds site: “From the moment I came, they started talking to me and making jokes. They’ve made a good impression. It’s a good mix. It’s good for me because I’m young.
“If I have players of my age around me, I know it’s easy for them to understand me because we’re the same age.”
Leeds host Brentford at Elland Road this Saturday afternoon and it could – but not necessarily – be Botaka’s first taste of Championship football.
A strong start for United could well be decisive, with Brentford forward Philipp Hofmann admitting the Bees must work on catching up with sides before half-time after two defeats in two.
Leeds, meanwhile, beat Derby County in their last league clash for their first win of the Championship campaign. It’s a good time for Botaka to be joining, then, with the Yorkshire side on a high.
