
After years of hype and dominating in the youth leagues, Anthony Gordon has finally taken the leap into the Everton first team under Rafa Benitez.
The 20-year-old academy graduate has excited Everton fans for years based on his form and performances for the club’s U-23 side. And this season has seen the England youth star take the next step in his career.
Indeed, whilst the attacker is yet to score or assist in the nine games Gordon has played for Everton, the winger is showing some promising signs of development under the Spanish manager.
Gordon’s performance against Manchester United was impressed given the weight of the occasion. Yet other displays against the likes of Watford were met with criticism.
Yet Gordon seems to remain keen on forging his name in Everton folklore. And in an interview with the Athletic, the 20-year-old attacker laid it bare what he hopes to achieve with the Toffees.
The attacker said: “I see myself as a game-changer and a matchwinner for Everton. At the minute, I’m playing really well but I’m not winning games for us. I am still nowhere near where I want to be.”
