The Swansea City manager Steve Cooper has responded to reports linking one of his players with Leeds United.

Ben Cabango’s name is among those that have featured on Leeds’ list of summer transfer targets, according to The Yorkshire Evening Post.

Cabango played 23 times for Swansea last season – in what was a breakthrough campaign for the 20-year-old centre-back.

His performances earned him a new three-year contract back in March, as well as a first ever call up to the senior Wales national team earlier this month.

The Leeds director of football, Victor Orta, is one of Cabango’s admirers, according to The Yorkshire Evening Post.

The newspaper insisted on Wednesday, however, that an approach from the Whites to Swansea has yet to be made.

And Cooper concurs with that statement.

“First I’ve heard of it, and no, there’s not been any bid,” the former England youth coach told Wales Online.

Cooper described Cabango as “an outstanding person” and “a popular lad” earlier this year.

And he continued, via Wales Online: “He’s a class lad. He’s a good guy, good fun, very committed and respectful. He’s everything you want from a young person. He’s doing some really good things on the pitch.”
