Paris Saint-Germain are competing to land the centre-back, and comments from his Estudiantes boss Gustavo Matosas underline why he is so highly coveted.
Matosas went as far as to compare Foyth to two footballing legends, arguing that he sees their traits in the 20-year-old.
Speaking to Argentine newspaper El Dia, Matosas said: “Foyth is a mixture of Baresi and Beckenbauer, although my words sound hasty.
“If Foyth left it would be a great loss.”
Matosas has only just taken over at Estudiantes and while it could be argued that he is trying to talk up the player to drive up his transfer value, he does not sound keen on losing him.
The Argentina under-20 international is likely to move to Europe this summer and is represented by agent and Estudiantes legend Juan Sebastian Veron.
Talks were held with Tottenham and PSG earlier this month, with the French side submitting a higher offer.
El Dia reported this week Foyth’s family are keen on the idea of the player moving to Spurs, and he believes he may get more of a chance of breaking into the first team reckoning than at PSG, which could well happen if the North London side persist playing three at the back.
