The Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has admitted his side have held talks to sign the Leeds United left-back Barry Douglas.
Douglas has begun the new season out of favour at Leeds, appearing only in the EFL Cup.
Mowbray, meanwhile, is looking for both cover and competition on the left – being fearful of an injury to Amari’i Bell.
And, speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire earlier on Thursday, the 56-year-old, who wants up to three new additions ahead of Friday’s 5pm deadline for domestic deals, said: “Barry Douglas, you mention there, is one name amongst a few that we’ve been talking to and looking at.
“We’ll see which one falls into place for us.”
Douglas arrived at Leeds in a £3 million deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers two years ago, and came highly recommended.

But the Scot has only played 44 times for the Whites since then and is in the final year of his contract at Elland Road.
It remains to be seen if Leeds would want to sign a replacement for Douglas, should the 31-year-old depart.
The United head coach Marcelo Bielsa would still have Stuart Dallas, Leif Davis and Ezgjan Alioski to call on in his position.
