Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in signing rumoured Arsenal target Alexis Mac Allister as a replacement for Jude Bellingham, who is believed to be on Liverpool’s radar.

According to Sport Bild, the Bundesliga giants have identified the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner as an option to succeed Bellingham next season if Dortmund manage to find a club willing to match the England international’s €150m (£130m) asking price.

Bellingham is highly expected to leave Germany next summer as the 19-year-old midfielder continues to impress for both club and country, with Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk claiming that Liverpool are the current favourites to land the England international.

And should the midfielder leave, Dortmund could now set their sights on signing Mac Allister, who according to CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs is on Arsenal’s radar following the Brighton & Hove Albion star’s sensational World Cup campaign with eventual winners Argentina.

The 24-year-old started the final and was key in the South American giants’ triumph in Qatar, with interest now spiking in the midfielder as Dortmund could now move to sign Mac Allister next summer, with Brighton expected to keep hold of their talismanic superstar in January.

Indeed, Mac Allister could be a sensational candidate to replace Bellingham for Dortmund, and whilst the midfielder isn’t as young as the Liverpool target, the maestro wanted by Arsenal could be a great addition for the Bundesliga giants in 2023.

Mac Allister’s stock has raised tenfold after the World Cup in Qatar, and for Dortmund, beating the likes of Arsenal to the midfielder’s signature would be quite the coup for the German side, who could take a new direction with the money they will likely earn from Bellingham’s sale.

As we know, Dortmund are a club who like to develop players and then sell them off for huger profits, yet in Mac Allister, they will be signing a player who can play for the German club at his absolute peak, a new strategy that will excite many supporters.
