The Germany international would be an exceptional addition to the Tottenham Hotspur squad this summer.

Spurs performed wonderfully in the Premier League last season, and despite their disappointing end to the campaign, their second placed finish will surely have been viewed as progress by their fans.

The Tottenham faithful have been growing increasingly frustrated this summer, however, with no new additions made to the squad as yet, whilst their direct rivals continue to invest heavily in acquiring new talent.

Mauricio Pochettino must surely be looking to bolster his squad, if he is to guide them to a successful campaign both home and abroad this season, and more specifically, he will need to bring in some top quality attacking talent.

With this in mind, the Argentine should consider a move for Borussia Dortmund winger Andre Schurrle.

The 26-year-old only moved to the Bundesliga giants last summer, but played a peripheral role in their campaign, making just eight league starts for his club.

The former Chelsea star is most effective when deployed in the right wing position, and his pacey, direct playing style would be ideally suited to the highly intense manner in which the Lilywhites go about their business.

Schurrle can also be utilised as auxiliary centre-forward, if the need arises – something that will surely appeal to Pochettino, what with Vincent Janssen’s struggles last season.

The German still has four years remaining on his current deal with Dortmund, however, so Daniel Levy will have to be prepared to part with some serious cash in order to bring him to Spurs.

Tottenham really do need to start acting like the big club they proclaim to be, however, if they are to make progress once again this season, and the acquisition of Schurrle would be a fantastic place to start.
