The Manchester United loanee has barely featured for Leeds United this season.
It is safe to say that Cameron Borthwick-Jackson’s loan spell at Leeds United has not gone to plan so far, with the defender having been restricted to five appearances for his temporary side, only one of which has come in the Championship.
Having endured a frustrating temporary stint at Wolverhampton Wanderers last campaign, Borthwick-Jackson was especially determined to play regularly this time around.
However, such an eventuality hasn’t transpired and there have been suggestions that the 20-year-old could return to his parent club Manchester United this month, as reported by The Daily Express.
Borthwick-Jackson will, though, receive a runout when Leeds face Newport County away in the FA Cup third round on Sunday, as reported by The Daily Express.
Even if his time at Leeds is coming to an end, Borthwick-Jackson will surely relish the opportunity to start a game and he will be determined to make a major impact.
Should he impress then he may well convince other clubs that he could be a good option for a loan signing before the closure of the transfer window.
Although he broke into the United first-team under Louis Van Gaal two seasons ago, Borthwick-Jackson does not appear to have a long-term future at the club under Jose Mourinho and it would not be especially surprising if he was to leave Old Trafford permanently next summer.
However, his immediate focus should be on attempting to make a major impact against Newport as he looks to demonstrate his credentials.
