Friday morning saw Boro follow up news of Woodgate’s appointment with a “gorgeous” away kit unveiling and also pre-season plans.

Middlesbrough’s Twitter account has undoubtedly racked up plenty of brownie points this morning as they followed up one big announcement with two more in quick succession.
First up, the Championship club announced the appointment of hometown hero Jonathan Woodgate as the club’s new manager on a three-year deal (official website), the former England defender having been part of the coaching setup under previous boss Tony Pulis.
Woodgate, who made 112 appearances for Middlesbrough in two spells, will be assisted by former Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur teammate Robbie Keane at the Riverside Stadium, as well as Leo Percovich and Danny Coyne.
Reaction from the fanbase on Twitter was fairly mixed but edging more towards the positive – here is a snapshot:
Boro’s social media team then followed up the 39-year-old’s appointment with the unveiling of their new away kit for the 2019-20 season:
And while on a roll, the admin made it a hat-trick by announcing Boro’s pre-season schedule, featuring trips to Austria and Germany, three away games in the UK and French Ligue 1 high-flyers Saint-Etienne coming to the Riverside.
