The former Boro boss is allegedly on the brink of dismissal from Nottingham Forest, and some fans of his former club would have him back with open arms.

Some Middlesbrough fans have reacted positively to rumours concerning one of their former managers.
According to The Telegraph, Aitor Karanka is on the brink of the sack at Nottingham Forest following a downturn in form that has seen them winless in four Championship games.
The report suggests that the Spaniard was under strict instructions to steer the Reds into the top six by New Year’s Day, but at present they’re three points adrift with one game left this year.
Meanwhile, at the Riverside Stadium, Tony Pulis has come under criticism from sections of the fanbase for a lapse in form of their own, as well as for a style of play – “Pulisball” – deemed by some as being dour and unimaginative.
Karanka managed Boro between 2013 and 2017, leading the Teesside outfit into the Premier League in 2016, but was sacked in March the following year with the club in the bottom three of the table.

Despite his departure, some Middlesbrough fans seem to still view Karanka fondly and, following the reports predicting his sacking at Forest, some took to Twitter to call for the club to reappoint him should he become available:
