Rangers snapped up Borna Barisic this past summer.

Rangers defender Borna Barisic has told the Daily Record that he was stunned when Steven Gerrard called him to discuss a move to Ibrox.
The Gers were in the market for a left back over the summer, and whilst Jon Flanagan filled in there at times, it was clear that natural left-footer was needed there.
After playing Osijek in their Europa League qualifying campaign, Rangers decided to swoop for their left back Barisic, handing him a move to Ibrox after impressing in their two-legged encounter.
Barisic, 25, made a strong start to life at Ibrox with some superb displays going forward, impressing with his crossing ability before suffering injury problems.
Barisic looks set to nail down the left back spot again when he returns, and he has opened up on his move to Glagsow – and his conversation with boss Gerrard before signing.
Barisic has told the Daily Record that he got a phone call from Gerrard about making the move, which took him aback as he told the Rangers boss that it was an ‘unbelievable honour’ to even talk to the former Liverpool ace, never mind play for him.

“After our European matches with Rangers I got a call from an unknown number,” said Barisic. “I answered it and he said, ‘hello this is Steven Gerrard, would you be interested in signing for Rangers? I told me it was such an unbelievable honour to even talk to such a legend, never mind play for him!” he added.
Barisic’s comments sum up the lure of Gerrard, as many players around Europe grew up seeing him star for Liverpool, and would now love to play for him – and it bodes well for Rangers in the transfer market moving forward.
