Well, former Arsenal boss Unai Emery has found himself a new job.

The Spaniard had been out of work since November after being sacked by the North London club after only 18 months in charge.

Emery was hired by Arsenal a little over two years ago as Arsene Wenger’s successor.

But despite leading the club to a Europa League final in his first season, the Gunners parted company earlier this season and ultimately replaced him with Mikel Arteta.

Emery, however, still has a lot of clout in European football, having won Europe’s secondary competition on three occasions, and Villarreal have just hired him as their new head coach.

Resurgent Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who managed only one competitive appearance under Emery, has reacted on Twitter.

Martinez tweeted his former coach, writing: “Best of luck on your new adventure mister.”

It’s hard to argue Arsenal were wrong to get rid of the former PSG and Sevilla coach.

Arteta has proven something of a wonderful appointment and although it’s early days, the signs are very encouraging.

Arsenal beat Liverpool and Manchester City in the space of three days last week and there’s just no telling how good the North Londoners could be in a few years under their former captain.
