Jamie Carragher has claimed that he is hoping Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final clash with Villarreal is going to be ‘boring’ after Manchester City and Real Madrid served up a seven-goal thriller, as he told CBS Sports (26/04/22 at 10:40 pm).
Manchester City beat Real Madrid 4-3 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie against Real Madrid at the Etihad on Tuesday night.
The winner of that showdown will meet either Liverpool or surprise packages Villarreal in the final in Paris.
Of course, the gulf in quality between what Jurgen Klopp can put out compared to Unai Emery is a lot bigger than what was on show last night.
Either way, when Carragher was asked if he is hoping for the same type of entertainment in the Liverpool game compared to what was displayed at the Etihad, he issued this response.
“I hope it’s not,” said Carragher. “I hope it’s 4-0 to Liverpool. I hope it’s boring. I would like it to be boring and we will see you in Paris.”

At ten past eight on Tuesday night, Man City fans would have been in dreamland because they were 2-0 up against Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
But, the soon-to-be La Liga champions just kept coming back despite being hit with blow after blow from the home side.
The speed at which both teams were playing, especially Manchester City, was quite incredible and a big reason why this is the best club competition in the world.
On top of that, there were also some quite ridiculous goals being scored, including Karim Benzema scoring a Panenka penalty at 4-2 to make it 4-3 with less than ten minutes left on the clock.
