Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to react after Sean Dyche made a comment about the club’s summer spending on BBC’s Match of the Day.
Speaking after his Burnley side lost to Newcastle on Sunday, Dyche – who earns £70,000-a-week – said: “I had to laugh actually. Somebody made a comment about Leeds saying they’d only spent £100 million. That’d be nice! I only spent £750,000.”
Now, this remark hasn’t gone down too well with the Leeds fans on Twitter.
After winning the Championship, Leeds spent £26 million on Rodrigo, £17 million on Raphinha, £13 million on Robin Koch and £23 million on Diego Llorente.
That might seem like a lot for a newly-promoted team, but it’s become the norm in modern football.

Back in 2018, Fulham spent over £100 million on new arrivals, only to finish bottom of the Premier League that season.
Additionally, the likes of Sheffield United spent £20 million on Oli McBurnie and £22 million on Sanger Berge in their first season back in the Premier League.
Dyche’s complaint that he only spent £750,000 seems like a problem for him to deal with in-house.

Clearly, it’s Burnley’s finances that are the issue, and not what other sides are able to spend.
If Leeds are able to spend £100 million, and on good additions such as Raphinha – whose valued has probably trebled – then why shouldn’t they?
Let’s see how the Leeds fans on Twitter reacted to his comments…
