Rangers rejected a low opening offer for first choice striker Alfredo Morelos.

Alfredo Morelos of Rangers is seen during the Pre-Season Friendly match between Rangers and Wigan Athletic at Ibrox Stadium on July 29, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Glasgow Rangers’ resolve to keep Alfredo Morelos could be tested further over the next week by Bordeaux.

SkySports reported Rangers suffered a £3.75 million offer for the striker from Bordeaux last night.

If Rangers hoped that would be the end of it, it’s unlikely, after Bordeaux landed a big windfall of cash earlier this month from Barcelona.

Bordeaux sold winger Malcom for £32 million, with Barcelona beating Roma to his signature.

This summer Bordeaux have signed just two players for cash, Samuel Kalu for £6.5 million and Toma Basic for £3 million, in addition to loan deals and free transfers.

That leaves a huge chunk of money for Bordeaux still to spend, and they could easily double or even treble their opening offer for Morelos.

Selling Morelos would be a big inconvenience to Rangers at this late stage of the transfer window, and they should not let him go on the cheap, if at all.

The Gers should be alive to the fact Bordeaux have a lot funds available, and factor this into their negotiations if they choose to continue discussions.
