Bordeaux president Stephane Martin claims no talks with Tottenham over deal for Malcom

Tottenham Hotspur are being strongly linked with a move for Bordeaux’s Malcom.

Bordeaux president Stephane Martin has told SFR Sport that there have been no talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a deal to sign Malcom this month.

Malcom, 20, joined Bordeaux from Corinthians in his native Brazil back in January 2016, and has blossomed into a key player for the Ligue 1 side this season.

With seven goals and five assists in 21 Ligue 1 games this season, Malcom has been a star for Bordeaux, impressing with his pace, dribbling, skill and ability to score from long range.

Unsurprisingly, Malcom’s exploits in France have now triggered major interest, and whilst Arsenal were linked last week, it’s Tottenham Hotspur who have been most prominently mentioned in recent days.

UOL Esporte in Brazil reported on Friday that Spurs were closing in on a £44million deal to sign Malcom, pipping Arsenal to his signature before next week’s transfer deadline.

It was claimed that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino held talks with Malcom’s representatives over a deal, though there was a possibility that Malcom could be loaned back to Bordeaux for the rest of the season.

Now though, Bordeaux president Stephane Martin has told SFR Sport that there is no chance of Malcom leaving the club during this month’s transfer window.

Martin added that there have been no talks with Tottenham about a deal for Malcom, nor have any other clubs been in discussions about signing the Brazilian starlet either.

“Malcom will stay with Bordeaux this winter, that is a certainty,” said Martin. “We have no discussions at this stage with Tottenham, nor any other club. There is no chance of him leaving,” he added.
