Ligue 1 side Bordeaux have reportedly expressed their interest in signing former Arsenal star Olivier Giroud in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to a report from the Evening Standard, Olivier Giroud has attracted interest from his home country with Bordeaux lining up a move for him in the summer.

Giroud, who moved from Arsenal to Stamford Bridge has failed to be a regular starter having always been behind Alvaro Morata or Gonzalo Higuain in the pecking order.

However, the French World Cup winner has been brilliant for the Blues in the Europa League where his 10 goals and three assists have played a huge part in helping the Blues into the semi-finals of the competition.

Eden Hazard and Olivier Giroud of Chelsea celebrate after the Premier League match between Chelsea FC and Watford FC at Stamford Bridge on May 05, 2019 in London, United Kingdom.

Giroud’s contract with the Londoners will expire at the end of the season but Chelsea have an option to extend his deal by another year.

The Blues have enough problems already with respect to their transfer ban as well as the potential departure of Eden Hazard.

Losing Giroud in the summer without being able to bring in a replacement will be a huge mistake on Chelsea’s part and it could well prove to be one they would massively regret next season.
