The Brighton and Hove Albion youngster is on Leeds United’s radar after starring on loan at Oldham Athletic.

Rob Hunt’s January loan move from Brighton and Hove Albion to Oldham Athletic appears to have transformed their season, the Oldham Chronicle reports.

Since the 21-year-old arrived at Boundary Park, The Latics have risen from the basement of League One to three points clear of the relegation zone with his excellent performances at right-back a major plus in The Latics bid to avoid a relegation that, until recently, only seemed inevitable.

Such impressive displays meant Hunt was only ever going to attract attention. HITC sources told us last month that Leeds United, planning for the future under Garry Monk, were planning a summer move for the youngster.

And Hunt, though highly-rated within the walls of The Amex, admits that his future depends solely on his parent club’s decisions in the transfer market.

“I will just go back [to Brighton at the end of the season], work as hard as I can and see what their plan is for me,” the youngster told the Oldham Chronicle. “It’s not up to me. I signed a new contract to stay until June, 2018.

“[But] it might all depend if they go up and if they decide to bring players in.”

Brighton will inevitably strengthen their side if they are indeed promoted to the Premier League and, with Hunt already behind Bruno in the pecking order, the prospect of reinforcements don’t bode well for his chances of game-time.

Leeds, then, could find themselves in a strange position of hoping Brighton secure that final automatic promotion spot.
