Reading boss Jaap Stam could be one of the names in the frame to replace Sean Dyche at Burnley.
The identity of Everton’s next permanent manager is, as yet, unknown. What is clear, however, is who The Toffees would like to take over at Goodison Park.
Sean Dyche has emerged as the frontrunner since Ronald Koeman was sacked a week ago. Though caretaker boss David Unsworth is set to remain in charge for upcoming clashes against Liverpool and Lyon, Sky Sports report that Burnley gaffer Dyche is the main man on Everton’s wishlist.
And even though Burnley will not want to bid farewell to the manager that has not only guided them into the Premier League but also transformed the club into an established top flight side, Tuttomercatoweb reports that The Clarets already have a replacement in mind.
The report claims that Burnley will consider Reading boss Jaap Stam if Dyche does indeed depart – despite The Royals enduring an underwhelming campaign in the Championship.
Stam earned plenty of plaudits for guiding a previously relegation threatened Reading side to the playoff final last season, where they were a penalty shoot-out defeat to Huddersfield Town away from returning to the Premier League.
The Royals have reverted to type this season, however, and sit just three points above the drop zone after winning just four of their 14 Championship games so far.
A vital 3-1 win against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday has relieved some of the pressure on the Dutchman’s shoulders, however. Though, with Burnley reportedly considering Stam as a replacement for Dyche, it is uncertain how much longer Stam will be in a job at the Madejski.
