Boost for Everton and West Ham as Gibson reportedly wants Premier League move

Ben Gibson ready to leave Middlesbrough to play in the Premier League with Everton, Leicester and West Ham all interested.

Those Premier League clubs interested in signing Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson this summer could receive a boost with the Sun reporting the defender wants a move to the top flight.

Gibson wants to be playing at a higher level than the Championship, which the 25-year-old can no longer achieve at Boro next season following their defeat to Aston Villa in the playoffs.

Manager Tony Pulis even appears to be looking for a replacement for the Englishman as the Teessiders take on Brighton and Hove Albion and Reading for the £1m signing of Lokomotiva Zagreb centre-back Denis Kolinger.

Where could he go?

Sky Sports reported last month that Everton, Leicester City and West Ham United are all interested in Gibson – who is valued at around £20m.

At the time it was said that the former England Under-21 international – who is the nephew of Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson – could remain at the Riverside if the club earned promotion.

With that no longer a possibility, it makes the likelihood of Gibson leaving even greater as he looks to get back into contention for the senior England team having been called up by Gareth Southgate for the first time in March 2017.
