Tottenham Hotspur have been listed as 6/1 contenders to sign Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye this summer.

Bookmaker Bet Victor has listed as Tottenham as the 6/1 joint second-favourites to sign Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye during the summer transfer window.

Gueye proved to be one of the signings of the season, topping the Premier League tackling charts, winning 136 challenges – which was nine more than N’Golo Kane despite Gueye making two fewer appearances.

That record is all the more impressive given that the former Aston Villa man cost the Toffees just £7.1 million last summer (via Guardian), arguably making him one of the bargains of the campaign.

Perhaps unsurprisingly therefore, bookmaker Bet Victor believes that there is a chance that some of the top flight’s heavyweights could try and make a move, with Spurs being listed as 6/1 second favourites where they are joined by Arsenal.

Meanwhile, it is Chelsea and Manchester United who lead the way at 4/1.

Arsenal have been linked with a summer move for Gueye in the past (via The Sun) so it is perhaps no surprise to see them near the top of the market, but it is arguably less understandable to see Tottenham listed at 6/1.

Though Gueye was excellent last term, the likes of Mousa Dembele, Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier were fantastic in the holding midfield area, so Mauricio Pochettino may feel that he has no need to go out and get another player for that area of the field.
