Newcastle United are said to be in the market for a new goalkeeper, and Leeds United’s could fit the bill.
Robert Green’s Leeds United future has been thrown into doubt by last week’s capture of German goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald from Werder Bremen.
Since then, Green has been linked with moves to Arsenal [The Sun on Sunday], Middlesbrough and Sunderland [both Yorkshire Post]. However, Ladbrokes’ latest odds suggest that another north east club, Newcastle United, could also feature in the running to sign the 37-year-old former England number one.

The bookmaker is listing Newcastle as 8/1 outsiders for Green’s signature, after Sunderland [5/1], Boro and Arsenal [both 4/1] and above West Ham United [9/1] and Norwich City [12/1].
Newcastle are in the market for a new goalkeeper, according to The Shields Gazette, with Tim Krul and now Karl Darlow said to be attracting interest. Although whether the Leeds man is still of the standard required by Magpies boss Rafa Benitez remains to be seen.
Green moved to Elland Road a year ago from Queens Park Rangers, and was a regular as the Whites finished narrowly outside the Championship play-off positions.
However, new Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen will perhaps favour his own recruit between the sticks, which could prompt Green to head for the exit door.

The Surrey born shot-stopper recently extended his Leeds contract until June 2018.
