Newcastle United have been listed as potential contenders to sign Chelsea striker Loic Remy this summer.

Bookmaker Sky Bet has listed Newcastle as the 5/1 third favourites to sign Chelsea striker Loic Remy during the summer transfer window.

Remy has endured a frustrating time since moving to Stamford Bridge back in 2014, making just 32 Premier League appearances for the Blues since his arrival – and spending last season out on loan with Crystal Palace where injury dramatically restricted his game-time at Selhurst Park.

Sky Sports is now reporting that the Frenchman is set to leave Chelsea during the coming months, with Everton and Marseille both interested in offering him a fresh challenge.

It is the Ligue 1 side who currently top the betting market along with Southampton at 7/2 on Sky Bet, but it is the Magpies who sit just behind at 5/1, slightly ahead of Everton at 11/2.

It would hardly be a surprise if Newcastle fans were pleased that Rafa Benitez’s men appear to be in the running for the 30-year-old – in the bookmakers’ eyes, anyway – as they continue their preparations for their return to the top flight.

Remy enjoyed a promising loan spell at St James’ Park earlier in his career, scoring 14 times in 26 league games and that kind of return would undoubtedly be welcome if Newcastle did pursue a deal given that they have been fairly quiet during this window so far.
