Bookmakers Bet Victor have made West Ham United second favourites to sign Valencia striker Alvaro Negredo this summer.

Negredo spent the 2016-17 season on loan at Middlesbrough, but the Teessiders’ relegation scuppered his chances of a permanent transfer to the Riverside.

Nevertheless, the bookies believe a return to English football could still be on the cards for the 31-year-old, with Crystal Palace [8/1], West Ham [4/1] and current favourites West Bromwich Albion [2/1] all listed as contenders.

And a move to the London Stadium is certainly plausible, with the Hammers known to be in the market for a new centre forward this summer.

Negredo’s Valencia future is unclear at this stage, with a new manager, Marcelino, recently sworn in at the Mestalla, where the Spain international has two years to run on his contract.

Negredo previously spent a season at Manchester City, where he was a teammate of recent West Ham recruit Pablo Zabaleta, and has scored 33 goals in 88 games in English football – including five in six against the Hammers.
