The Stoke City man could be seen as the ideal replacement for David de Gea at Manchester United, should the Spaniard leave Old Trafford this summer.
Popular bookmakers SkyBET have slashed the odds on the Red Devils signing Potters stopper Jack Butland, installing them as new favourites in the race to obtain his signature.
United’s current number one David de Gea’s future at Old Trafford is uncertain to say the least, with Spanish media outlet Don Balon claiming that he will begin discussions over a move to Real Madrid when Jose Mourinho’s side complete the signing of Alvaro Morata.

If the 26-year-old does eventually leave United, Mourinho will obviously have to replace the Spaniard with an established goalkeeper, and SkyBET believe that Butland, 24, could be the man for the job.
The popular bookies make Mourinho’s men 7/2 favourites to sign the England international, ahead of Arsenal who are listed at a distant 16/1.
The Stoke ‘keeper has endured some torrid luck with injuries throughout his relatively short career this far, but he has returned to his best both physically and mentally over the past six months or so.
He would represent a fantastic signing for United, but with Butland’s deal at the BET365 Stadium not due to expire until the summer of 2021, Stoke will be in a very strong position from which to negotiate with the three-time European Cup winners.
With United’s vast wealth though, they will easily be able to meet any kind of valuation the Potters place on their prized asset’s head.
And if Mourinho does manage to bring Butland to Old Trafford, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for United.
