The Tottenham Hotspur striker is said to be at loggerheads over a new deal at White Hart Lane.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes have made Liverpool the 5/2 favourites to sign Harry Kane if he leaves Tottenham Hotspur.

According to the Sun, the England international has put contract talks on hold at White Hart Lane with the two sides reaching an impasse in negotiations.

That does not mean the 23-year-old will leave Spurs, with his current deal running until the summer of 2020, but Ladbrokes are tipping Liverpool to be the player’s next club if he does leave North London.

They give odds of 14/1 for Kane to leave Tottenham in January and 15/8 to head out next summer, but Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino will surely do everything in his power to keep the prolific striker at the club.

In truth this is likely to be little more than paper-talk mixed with the desire to get the best possible contract offer from the player and his representatives.

After all, the future is looking very bright for Tottenham with a number of exciting young players blossoming at the club.

But the same can be said at Liverpool and with the Reds looking to push on under Jurgen Klopp, it would be no surprise if they at least made a move if it looked like Kane’s future was uncertain.

Liverpool have played much of this season without an out-and-out striker, and one look at their goal tally shows that has not harmed them, while Kane is Tottenham’s go-to man for goals and without him they would be a very different proposition.
