Bet Victor have installed Celtic as 6/1 second favourites to sign Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph this summer, behind Newcastle United [7/4].
According to the bookmaker, Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys are just as likely to land the England international as Crystal Palace and Leeds United – with Delph’s former club Aston Villa also listed as contenders at 8/1.
But could a move to Celtic Park be on the cards?
Do Celtic need him?
Yes. Rodgers has already admitted a desire to add a Champions League-quality central midfielder this summer, and Delph, who has played five times in the competition and has nine England caps, could fit the bill.
Why would he want to go there?
Delph has appeared just 13 times under Pep Guardiola, which has had a knock-on effect on his international aspirations, whereas first team football would be readily available at Celtic Park. Unlike the others on Bet Victor’s list, the Bhoys can also offer Champions League football – assuming they make it through the qualifying rounds once more. Delph only needs to look at Scott Sinclair, his former Aston Villa teammate, to see how the move could rejuvenate his career.

What are Celtic’s chances of signing him?
Despite the above, the one thing Rodgers’ side cannot offer is Premier League football, which could be key to Delph’s England hopes. Sinclair, for all his good form, has yet to return to the Three Lions fold since moving north of the border. Finances could also be a factor, with even newly-promoted Newcastle likely to have more money to offer than Celtic.
