Could Nottingham Forest or Derby County bring Bamford back to the East Midlands this month?
Bookmaker Bet Victor lists Nottingham Forest and Derby County among the candidates to sign Patrick Bamford in January.
Bamford began his career at Forest before joining Chelsea for £1.5 million in 2012. Since then, the 23-year-old has been loaned to six different clubs, including the Reds’ East Midlands rivals, Derby.
Bamford in action for Derby against Forest
Now at Premier League Burnley, it has been reported that Bamford’s contract could be terminated this month, allowing him to make yet another temporary move. And both Forest and Derby could be in the running if so, as per Bet Victor’s latest odds.
Forest, with odds of 6/1, are joint-third favourites to sign the Grantham-born striker, alongside Brighton & Hove Albion and behind Hull City (4/1) and Leeds United (2/1).
Derby, however, are not far behind the Reds – tied with Reading and Birmingham City at 8/1 – and could have the upper hand on their City Ground foes, who are currently under a transfer embargo due to a delay in submitting audited accounts.
Derby boss McClaren
New Rams boss Steve McClaren signed Bamford during his previous spell in charge at Pride Park, with the England Under-21 star going on to score eight goals in 21 appearances for the Championship promotion contenders.
