Bookmakers Betfair have installed Everton [4/1] and West Ham United [6/1] as respective second and third favourites to sign Manchester United outcast Luke Shaw.

Shaw’s application was questioned by United manager Jose Mourinho at the weekend, although the left-back is set to return to the Red Devils’ squad against Everton on Tuesday.

Whether Shaw features at Old Trafford remains to be seen, but if he does it may be viewed as an audition for the £32 million signing [Transfermarkt], who fears he has no choice but to leave United this summer, according to The Sun [04/04, p56].

Shaw is said to be eyeing a reunion with Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur, having played under the Argentine at first club Southampton.

It is little surprise, therefore, to see Spurs at the top of Betfair‘s list of possible destinations with odds of 5/2.

That said, with Ben Davies recently signing a new deal at White Hart Lane and Danny Rose Pochettino’s first choice when fit, Shaw may need to broaden his horizons.

Everton’s Leighton Baines is not getting any younger, while Baines understudies Brendan Galloway and Luke Garbutt have flattered to deceive on loan this season, making the Toffees a plausible option for Shaw.

And a move to West Ham is also not beyond the realms of possibility, with Aaron Cresswell struggling to match his usual high standards and summer signing Arthur Masuaku proving an expensive flop so far.
