Everton have been listed as the favourites to sign Manchester United defender Luke Shaw before the end of the January transfer window.

According to bookmaker BetVictor, Everton are the most likely team to sign Manchester United defender Luke Shaw before the end of the January transfer window, having been listed as the 4/1 favourites for his signature.

Shaw has endured a frustrating time since moving to Old Trafford, with poor, or inconsistent, form and injury threatening to prevent him from realising his potential.

The Guardian reported earlier this week that Shaw – who was signed for £27 million in 2014 – feared that his Manchester United career may be over following a disagreement with Jose Mourinho over his attitude.

So could Everton be considering making a move for the 22-year-old? Bookmaker BetVictor believes that the Toffees may be keen on the Englishman.

The Goodison Park outfit are currently 4/1 favourites to sign him before the end of the January window, while Swansea are second favourites at 5/1 and a trio of sides – Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle – are listed at 6/1.

Before Everton fans start wondering whether a move for Shaw would be a good or bad idea however, it must be noted that fellow bookmaker SkyBet list Everton as the sixth favourite at 12/1, so they are less confident that a deal is likely.

Of course, the chances of a move are surely somewhat dependant on what happens regarding the search for Ronald Koeman’s successor at Everton.

The new manager may be extremely keen on or completely against the idea of signing Shaw, so perhaps that appointment will play a key role in suggesting which bookmaker is closer to being on the money at this stage.
