Derby County were previously linked with the Exeter City forward in May 2016.

Bookmakers Bet Victor have slashed the odds on Derby County singing Exeter City hotshot Ollie Watkins this month.

The Rams are now even favourites to land the 21-year-old, who has scored nine goals and created four for the Grecians this season, above Brentford (2/1).

As reported by HITC Sport last year, both clubs, along with Premier League side Bournemouth, were weighing up summer moves for Watkins, although nothing materialised.

And despite changing manager in November, it appears as though Derby may have maintained an interest in the five-foot-eleven forward, who can play on either flank if required.

Watkins might not be the only lower league talent to feature on Steve McClaren’s side’s radar, however, with Grimsby Town’s Omar Bogle, Fleetwood Town’s Amari’i Bell and Macclesfield Town’s Danny Rowe all linked within the last fortnight.

The Rams, who sit two points outside the Championship play-offs, have recruited just one new face so far – bringing Middlesbrough striker David Nugent to Pride Park for £2.5 million.

Would Watkins be a good signing for Derby County?
