Perez’s Arsenal future is in serious doubt and Crystal Palace may have entered the running to sign him.

Crystal Palace are now as short as 3/1 to sign Arsenal forward Lucas Perez this summer with bookmaker Sky Bet.

Palace are yet to be formally credited with interest in the Spaniard – for whom the Gunners have reportedly set a £13.4 million asking price (London Evening Standard) – and the Eagles were not previously listed among the main contenders to sign him.

But as of Monday evening, only Perez’s former employers Deportivo La Coruna and linked club Newcastle United are ahead of Frank De Boer’s men on Sky Bet’s list of likely destinations for the player.

And according to the above report, neither Depor nor Newcastle are close to meeting Arsenal’s alleged asking price, which could leave open the door for Palace to pounce.

With only Christian Benteke and the recovering Connor Wickham as recognised options at centre-forward, it is certainly plausible that De Boer could seek to strengthen in Perez’s position.

And a move to Selhurst Park could be mutually beneficial for both the buying club, given Perez’s tally of seven goals in 21 games last season, and player, who would get to remain in the city where his father is said to have already lived and worked before his son’s move there a year ago.

Could Crystal Palace make a move for Arsenal’s Lucas Perez?
