The Manchester City striker has been suggested as a potential makeweight in the deal for John Stones.

According to a recent report from the Sun, Ronald Koeman is considering accepting Manchester City’s proposal to include striker Wilfried Bony in a deal for John Stones.

The defender has been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium all summer, but so far the two sides have failed to agree a deal for him.

One involving Bony would certainly make sense, with Everton currently short on options beyond Romelu Lukaku, with Arouna Kone failing to impress again last season.

Should Bony arrive at Goodison Park, it is extremely likely he would replace Kone as the Blues’ back-up option.

But would he represent an improvement? We decided to compare the two players to find out.

And rather surprisingly it turns out that the two were level across the eight areas that we looked at.

Kone managed more goals and assists, as well as a better shooting accuracy. He also registered more key passes per game than Bony.

However, the Manchester City man registered more shots per game, more shots on target per game as well as wining more aerial duels per game.

He also managed fewer unsuccessful touches per game, with these stats suggesting Everton may be best looking elsewhere for their new striker.
