Leo Bonatini has been discussing his future at Wolves and thinks a permanent move from Al-Hilal will be decided upon promotion.

Leo Bonatini has spoken out about his Wolverhampton Wanderers future with it still unclear whether the striker will be at the club beyond this season.

Bonatini is currently on loan from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, but as Birmingham Live reports Wolves have the option of making his stay permanent for a fee of £4.4m.

Yet the Brazilian doesn’t believe that any decision will be made on whether he will continue at Molineux or not for at least a few more weeks.

“It’s something I still don’t know. I’m on loan here, really, until the end of this season from Al-Hilal. I don’t know what will happen,” Bonatini told ESPN in Brazil.

“But I know what I want, I want to stay. Here’s a place that I was able to adapt very well to the game style, it’s a game style that I like a lot, the country is a very good country, where I adapted to be able to live.

“But I still don’t know. I don’t know much about my future. But I think that the earlier we get promotion, or even the title, things are going to be planned for next season.

“Because I believe that, even though everyone believes we will be in the Premier League next season, we don’t have that certainty. So the sooner we get promoted the club can prepare the squad and already start thinking about the next season.”

Good or bad news for Bonatini?

With a 13-point gap between themselves and third-placed Fulham in the Championship table, they’re aren’t many who don’t think Wolves will be playing in the Premier League next season.

Is that something that could work against Bonatini, who although started the season brilliantly with 12 goals in 20 league games, has now not scored in 16 matches since December 4?

Perhaps the West Midlands club feel the 23-year-old is not ready to make the step up, because they have already backed a fellow loanee in Diogo Jota by making his move from Atletico Madrid permanent back in January.
