Bolton Wanderers have taken both Reece Burke and Josh Cullen on loan from West Ham United until January.

Bolton Wanderers boss Phil Parkinson has told the Bolton News that both West Ham United youngsters Josh Cullen and Reece Burke are trying too hard to impress.

Cullen and Burke have both joined Bolton on loan from West Ham until January, but they have been dropped from the first-team recently.

The pair were both on the substitutes’ for the Trotters’ last fixture, which came against Bristol City.

And Parkinson wants both Burke and Cullen to relax, rather than try to impress all the supporters at their new club.

“With Josh and Reece I almost feel they are trying too hard, they are absolutely desperate to get the win,” Parkinson said.

“They really, really want to do well for Bolton Wanderers but it’s almost working against them at the moment.

“Reece has made a couple of decision-making errors I have never seen him do before, and it’s just that bit of pressure, Josh is the same but we have been asking him to do a man’s job and covering a lot of ground in the centre of the midfield. At times he hasn’t had much help.”

West Ham have high hopes for both Burke and Cullen, and their experience at Bolton could be crucial to their developments.

Bolton have started the new campaign in dire form, and currently sit at the bottom of the Championship table.

The Trotters are yet to win a league match, and they appear to be struggling with making the step up to the second tier.

Bolton’s next match comes against Aston Villa at the weekend, and it remains to be seen whether Burke and Cullen will come back into Parkinson’s team.
