Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson has praised midfielder Darren Pratley, speaking after the club’s defeat to West Ham.

West Ham beat Bolton 3-0 at the London Stadium in a one-sided Carabao Cup match up.

Speaking to the Bolton News after the game, Parkinson said that he felt Pratley is not deserving of recent criticism from Wanderers supporters.

He said: “They were led by their captain, Prats, I have to be honest. He gets some criticism from the fans but his attitude tonight was absolutely brilliant, the way he helped Jeff King through the game.”

Bolton fans have been understandably disappointed by poor results this season upon their return to the Championship.

The team sit bottom of the division with no wins and just two points from four games – and they have netted only four goals in 16 games.

It is hardly ideal and at present the Trotters look set for instant relegation back to League One.

Pratley, 32, has played in five of Bolton’s Championship games, and was called back into the team after missing the loss to Ipswich Town days earlier.
