The Championship strugglers head to Yorkshire to face the Whites, who are hoping to go back to the top.
Ahead of Saturday’s visit of Leeds United, Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson says his side will make the most of the atmosphere at a “full house” at Elland Road and insists his players will be buoyed by their previous two fixtures against the Whites this season.
At first glance it looks like a tall order for the Trotters, who sit three points from safety in the Championship’s top three and are playing away at a side two points from top spot with a game in hand on leaders Norwich City.
That said, Bolton have already played Leeds twice this season – first in the Carabao Cup in August and the in the league in December – and although Marcelo Bielsa’s side won both times, they were by a single goal.
“It won’t be easy but it’s a great game for us, to go into a full house at Elland Road,” Parkinson told The Bolton News. “We’re going there with nothing to lose really but we’ve got to go there and relish the challenge.
“We were in both of the games this season, we matched Leeds and that’s what we’ve got to be ready to do again. They’re a very hard-working team and the physical stats back that up and on their day we kind of matched that energy and we need to do that again.”
Aside from the two victories already this season, Leeds have won their last six matches against Bolton in all competitions, while the Trotters have lost their last four visits to Elland Road against Leeds in all competitions since winning 5-1 under Dougie Freedman in March 2014 (Sky Sports).
On a more positive note for the Lancastrians, they are looking to win consecutive away league matches for the first time since beating West Bromwich Albion and Reading in their first two away Championship games this season.
