Bolton Wanderers fans are reacting after their former goalkeeper, Jake Turner, joined Newcastle United.

Newcastle confirmed Turner’s free transfer arrival on Monday, although the length of his contract hasn’t been disclosed.

The 20-year-old is thought to have been highly-rated by Bolton, whose bench he appeared on for last season’s finale against Nottingham Forest.

It was only 18 months ago that the Sun reported the Trotters wanted £4 million for Turner, in light of interest from Everton and Manchester United.

But the former England youth international was not offered a renewal by Bolton’s administrators, after his previous deal expired earlier this summer.

And it is perhaps fair to say that many of a Bolton persuasion aren’t happy with how things have turned out with Newcastle’s newest recruit.
