A number of Bolton fans took to Twitter to respond to Joe Williams’ tweet after the Everton midfielder made his debut for the Trotters during their Championship clash with Preston North End on Saturday.

The 21-year-old faces an important year for his development. He impressed at Barnsley last term and has returned to the second tier for this season, with Bolton taking him on loan for the year.

The Everton prospect got the chance to make his bow for Phil Parkinson’s side as they took on the Lilywhites at Deepdale. It did appear that it would be something of a nightmare debut for the midfielder as the home side took a 2-0 lead inside 16 minutes.

But Bolton – who have been one of the Championship’s surprise packages so far this term – fought back and equalised before the break. Williams was not directly involved in either goal, but he clearly impressed the fans with his performance.

Several supporters lauded the Toffees ace’s display and suggested that they are extremely excited about his potential while he is with the club.

Williams himself, sent out a message to the Bolton supporters on social media following the 2-2 draw, and the Everton youngster was shown a lot of love in response.
