Bolton Wanderers came back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Southend United on Saturday in League One.

Southend had taken the lead in the 3rd minute of the match through Harry Kyprianou but for the remaining 87 minutes, it was all Bolton.

Despite a constant onslaught – Bolton had 63% possession and 23 shots on goal compared to Southend’s three – it took until the 48th minute for the men in white to equalise.

Debutant Keshi Anderson, who signed on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace on deadline day, netted from close range after a minor goalmouth scramble.

Despite creating myriad chances, Bolton’s players had forgotten their shooting boots at the DW Stadium. Of the 23 shots on goal, only a handful hit the target.

They did also have three efforts cleared off the line in the first half alone, and those who witnessed the game will be wondering how Southend came away with a share of the spoils.

Bolton fans couldn’t quite believe their eyes, but there is still a positive vibe at the club. They remain top of the table and are yet to lose in the league this season.

Bolton host MK Dons at the Macron Stadium next Saturday, and with the Dons lying in 13th place, Bolton will be confident of maintaining their unbeaten start.
