Bolo Zendan has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 1st February, that he has not ruled Sunderland out of surviving in the Premier League this season.

Sunderland have been stuck in the relegation zone for a considerable amount of time this season, and currently sit five points adrift of safety.

David Moyes’ men are in 19th place in the Premier League table, but Zenden has refused to rule them out of climbing out of trouble.

“The bottom bit is still very close. Sunderland are in trouble, they need to get points from somewhere – and not just draws,” he said. “Can they do it? We have to wait and see. Can Moyes do it? He has enough experience to get there, but you need the players to do it.”

Sunderland’s latest result was a credible one, as they picked up a point against title chasing Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs could only manage to pick up a 0-0 draw at the Stadium of Light, with Moyes’ side setting up well to frustrate them.

Sunderland also have a number of new additions to welcome to their squad in the coming weeks, with Moyes’ side signing the likes of Joleon Lescott, Darron Gibson and Byran Oviedo over the last month.

Sunderland are next in action at the weekend, when they face a huge game against fellow strugglers Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
